LA Cityscapes 2020-2022
Taken between 2021 and 2022, this collection documents the photographer’s final years living in Los Angeles. The images were not originally conceived as a series. They were made while riding an electric bike through neighborhoods with two cameras, responding instinctively to what surfaced.
The act of assembling the work resists the simplification that memory imposes. Cities shrink in hindsight. This edit refuses that shrinkage. It collects fragments—commercial facades, street scenes, empty expanses, saturated light—and holds them in tension. The tonal decisions made at the moment of capture remain intact; each edit was an attempt to register how the city felt at that time.
The result is less a portrait of Los Angeles as icon and more a record of lived proximity. Fragmented neighborhoods reveal unexpected through-lines. Movement through the city becomes the structuring device. Looking back becomes the artistic act.
